deleeeeeted

I took the plunge last night, dear readers...

I deactivated it...

I don't want to rant and say that I was "concerned about my privacy," "Facebook was too much drama," or anything like that. In fact, I love Facebook. I love being able to connect with people I've met and stay in touch with those I care about from home. I love being able to have instant access to friend's pictures and it has been a great way to stay connected with my college {and even high school} friends since we have all gone our separate ways.

However, since resigning my position from my desk job in VA, I have become shamefully addicted to the social media site in an unhealthy way. I found myself logging in for 20, 30, 45 minutes multiple times a day, mindlessly flipping through pictures and status updates rather than using that time productively.

After I move back to the North later this Spring {more about this later}, I will probably reactivate. I truly do love the site and its sharing/connecting capabilities. I just need a break and need to be more productive...

Have you ever taken a Facebook/Social Media break?

I completely understand. Years ago when MySpace was popular I was the same way. Constantly. I eventually deleted my account and never returned. I actually have never had a Facebook page because I don't want to spend my life looking at pictures and just wasting my day away! I have my blog to obsess about so that's enough for me! Lol! I'm kidding. I'm definitely not as bad with blogging but I can completely understand. Maybe one day I will decide to open a facebook account but for now I'm ok without it.

I deleted my facebook page also! I am telling you - you won't regret it! It's a huge time waster!

I know what you mean. I tend to only obsess over one social media outlet at a time.. it used to be Facebook, then tumblr, then blogger, then twitter! Hah. But for now, since I'm working full days, I just haven't had time to obsess over a social media outlet and so I've been disconnected from all of them for a while. I'm okay with that too!

Good for you! While I haven't deactivated my account, I did go through a couple of months ago and delete half of my "friends." Now the only people I'm connected to on FB are family and real friends--not acquaintances, people I don't like and friends from high school. It's refreshing.

I've taken a break from facebook several times. When doing so I noticed how much extra time I had on my hands. Its amazing how distracting that website is! I agree, its nice to keep in contact with close friends and family, but sometimes you just need a break!
