a teaser to spark your curiosity...

I've been working on a little project...

Still working on development, so more information about my "project" isn't available yet. It's going to be a little while before I am able to officially "launch" the site... I've been working on this project between working, finalizing details for my move, job hunting and homework, so it's taking a little longer than normal.

I'm so excited to reveal exactly what this project entails so I've got a teaser to spark your curiosity.

New Blog!

I feel like I often come back to my blog, excusing my lack of posts because I've been busy and then promise to start blogging more. It's hard, let me tell you!

The truth is- I have been busy. Besides working full time, I took my first classes for my Master's degree this semester. LOTS of writing. And reading. And studying. Quite honestly, after staring at computer all day at work, it's hard to come home, only to stare at a computer screen even longer to read and write school papers/assignments. Clearly, by the time my day is done, the last thing I want to do is sit at a computer screen and read/write more, even if it's for pleasure.

I can't make promises, but I am going to make every effort to set aside a few hours each week to write more. Another problem that I have is that I rarely know what to write about. One of my goals is to begin writing more about my every day life, similar to what my friend Brittney does. I just love her blog, it is so darling.

Recently, I have made some big changes in my life, my blog {obviously} being one of them. After reading my new favorite book, I decided that it was time to make some improvements on my life and the way that I think about myself and since I would like for my blog to become a part of my every day life... I wanted to change it up. I wanted it to reflect not only who I am, but also where I am going. I think with the pink, the pearls and Audrey Hepburn... I was able to get exactly what I wanted. It's still not done, but it's done enough to start blogging again. :)

As far as "my story" goes, I am still debating if I am going to finish it. It's tough, and I haven' t been able to sit down and gather my thoughts. Let me know if you are interested in hearing the rest.. then maybe I will try to compose a last post or two.

So look for some posts this week, friends! Tonight, I am going to try and master the art of "scheduled posts." If there any little known tricks, be sure to pass them along!

E

Hello, Blog

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve written; I’ve missed writing my thoughts, sharing my life and have thoroughly enjoyed the comments and emails I have received from you- my lovely
readers asking where I’ve been.

I don’t really have an excuse for where I’ve been. I avoided my blog for a while because I was redesigning it {still not completely done, work with me people!}, redesigned a blog for my mom, and am now currently lining up some design work for my dad, as well as a few people who have asked me to design the stationary for their wedding {SO excited!}. Somewhere in here, I’m also working to launch a new blog soley devoted to the design work that I’ll be offering soon as I get better at learning the ins and outs of web design.

I also moved to another state, started a new job, traveled all up and down the East Coast during the weekends and have been pretty busy occupying my thoughts as to what my next step in life is going to be. Looking back, it’s been a pretty exciting, yet highly intimidating few weeks.

I have so many things that I want to write about, and I think I’m going to- which means you’re {hopefully} going to get 2 post in one night, as long as I can gather my thoughts and make logical sense of them.

I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA. I’ve missed you. And I’m making a commitment to start writing/posting/reading again. So here’s your invitation back to my blog- and a sneak peak to several posts:

The Friend Connection:
I’ve known this girl for HOW LONG?!? And wait... now she’s my BOSS??
Just how thankful I am for this girl...

We had a mother/daughter photo sesh.
Here’s a sneak peak at the 2 women I adore and absolutely could not live without. More from that morning coming soon!

Trust: no one can fix your issues but yourself.

Another chapter in my story.
Looooong over-due.

You can guarantee those topics will be discussed. In the mean time, I stumbled across this. For
the record, I would probably give my Sister’s right arm for a closet like this... (squiggles and hearts, Sister)

Love you all,

It's those little decisions that are the hardest to make...

Today I am having a quandary.

How to spend money.

Ok, so that's totally a lie. I have never, ever had a problem spending money- in fact, I'm actually quite talented in this area of life {just as Mr. Former}. Never had problems and I'd be willing to admit that the older I get, I just keep improving my spend-tastic capabilities.

What can I say?
I'm just that awesome. ;)

But HELLO REAL WORLD... you're knocking on my door and about to barge yourself through my Pottery Barn decorated front door.
...{and please keep the fingerprints off the new paint, please and thanks}

Yes ladies, recently, I've had to cut the strings on my flippant, spontaneous spending... watching under a microscope every dollar that comes in and out of my pocket. {ouch, I don't like saying that}. I've had to cut the strings on most of my spending money in order to build my savings account back to where it needs to be, because what I want in the future over-rules that to-die-for dress that just made its appearance in the front display window at J.Crew. Basically, I've cut almost every frivolous expense so that I live on just the things I need... all because of that damn future of mine. JKKKKKK. I'm actually looking forward to the future!! Just don't like not spending money while preparing for said future. {and mommie, please don't yell at me for cursing. at least it wasn't in front of mo}

HOWEVER, I know me. And I know that occasionally, I will want to take a budgeting break. SO, I've wisely decided to *budget* in a small amount of spending money to spend on something frivolous and fun here and there. SO... after working 6 straight nights, I'm going to spend some money tomorrow.

Now for the quandary:

I can't decide what to spend it on!!! My wish list exceeds {by miles} my spending allowance. These are my options of what I've narrowed it down to.

1. save my spending money so that I can use it on a shopping trip/adventure with a friend this weekend.
2. Indulge in a luscious bottle of red wine (yummmm) for the house for after work this next week

3. Purchase a tanning package for the month so I can have a pretty glow for those Christmas pictures that I have despised in the past because I look like a ghost in every.single.one.

4. lastly- put the money towards 3 books that I am DYING to own. Which include:

Adobe InDesign CS4 Classroom in a Book
InDesign CS4: Industrial Strength Publishing Techniques
And lastly, Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a Book

HELP ME DECIDE GIRLS!!
Which should I go with???

Apologies

I need to write a quick letter before I go on with my happy blog post.

Dear Sallie Mae,
I hate you more than anything else in the world. You put on a pretty face at first, but deep down you are nothing but a mean muggin' whore with bad hair and ugly shoes {as fabulously quoted from the words of Elizabeth Marie}. Lets please begin an effort to try and make this situation better by hiring people who actually speak English. I really don't appreciate you sucking all my money and keeping it for yourself as you offshore all communication to third parties in Kazakhstan, forcing me to talk to someone with no better communication skills and knowledge of the English language than Borat himself. I can assure you that there are plenty of broke graduates in the US who would be happy to work for your company while they find that "dream job" that you promise to be just around the corner.
Kindly, Ema-Leigh Rust

{k, happy post now}

Sorry for the lack of posts this week ladies, but it's been one of those weeks... you know- one of those weeks that just suck the life right out of you. And just when you don't think it can "rain" anymore... the real hurricane hits. I'll spare the dirty deets for now.

I have been busy with mainly two things this week:
1. figuring out what to do with my life and finding a full-time job {not so much in this economy}
2. designing my sister's blog!! Check out some of the work I've been doing for her, then... check her out!! Leave her a comment and tell her how much you're looking forward to her posts {kindly telling her to get on the ball}

You like?? This is my favorite design that I've done so far. These are just the "raw" images... still tweeking before I upload. Also, the colors work a lot better than these low-res images that I uploaded in a hurry.

Also, I need a cute idea/name for her "blog roll".
Suggestions welcomed, please and thanks.
